Many leaders in the federal government, professors of higher education, school teachers, and other individuals are in agreement on one point – the American school system is in need of a 21st century special education focused on ecology, mankind, and nature. ARCPROSPECT International Foundation of Architects and Design Professionals is proposing a model that will work as a future international program for the education of children and the general public in a field that we have left ignored. The first significant model we would like to propose for construction is in Chicagoland, Illinois USA.

ARCPROSPECT is creating a unique partnership with the government, National and Illinois School Board Associations, and universities and is collaborating with students, teachers, professors, and ecological professionals to develop the most intelligent design for an educational center that will bring significant results for the new ecologically sensitive future.

The Forest Ecology Educational Center will be a place for ecological research and public education of the complex issues arising from human interactions with nature and the devastating impact of urbanism, industrialism, and technological progress on natural biopersity. It is a broad interdisciplinary field of studies and education that includes the history of the forest biosphere, urbanism, the understanding of natural and artificial environments, and the relationships between them. In addition to environmental sciences, the scope encompasses studies in associated subjects, such as forest ecology research that seeks to comprehend the most fundamental processes of life in that biosystem.
The Forest Ecology Educational Center has been created to be internationally recognized and have a world wide presence for its basic research into ecology, biology, urban development, and pollution as it applies to the varied natural conditions around the globe.
The philosophy of the Forest Ecology Educational Center emphasizes sustained, thorough studies of the forest life cycle, changes over time, and the consequences of human carelessness. This research and resulting predictions regarding the future of the biopersity of forest life will be presented in interdisciplinary programs, collaborations, education, and exhibitions for researchers preparing to meet the scientific challenges of the 21st century.

The design of the future facilities and educational programs of the Forest Ecology Educational Center is managed by ARCPROSPECT International Foundation of Architects and Design Professionals. The future 30,000 sq. ft facility will feature permanent and temporary interactive exhibits, green living exhibitions as well as applications in the center’s design, indoor and outdoor nature observatories, spaces for assembly for environmental addresses, offices for scientific reporting and environmental data analysis, a shop to purchase items, café and an outdoor play area for children.
The Forest Ecology Educational Center is devoted to the highest scientific and educational standards, emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach toward resolving ecological problems, promoting public awareness, formulating new philosophies, and ensuring the preservation of vitally important knowledge through research and education. While people are becoming more aware of their impact on the Earth, solving environmental issues will not be simple and will take the sustained effort of the global communities. Toward this end, this educational center will be a place for presenting this knowledge as well as a place for a community to come together to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the natural world.
